As a thank you from a family friend well rooted in her southern heritage, I received a years subscription to Southern Living.
I think the magazine is great. I just hope the next time she visits, she doesn't 'quiz' me on the recipes the mag is overflowing with.
No matter how long I live in the south, I will never be a southern lady of the kitchen. I am the yankee chick - in front of the tv - watching football - drinking a beer with the boys.

I've been reading Southern Living since I moved here 8 years ago (thought it would help me "blend" in better. ha!). Anyway, I've made 1 recipe out of the magazine, some kind of pecan crusted chicken. Hubby asked me to never make it again.
I LOVE Southern Living. Would never attempt to create anything from it -- but I love it all the same. :)
girl, i'll be right there beside you on the couch watching football with booze in hand!! jay usually does all our cooking, and i just clean up his mess. works for me! ;)
